Celebrating the legacy and future of Black American Music
The Juneteenth Jazz Arts Festival is an annual free series of Jazz and Black American music concerts, lectures, and master classes hosted in Las Cruces, NM. The festival has been running since 2021, and our mission has always been to connect folks to an important musical genre with local and national artists for free! We strongly believe high-quality art should be accessible to the public, and as such, we rely on grants, volunteers, and donations to put on our festival each year. Thank you so much for your support, attendance, and love in year’s past.
some Past Performers:
Hi, I’m Derrick Lee.
I am a full-time Jazz musician and music educator based in Las Cruces, NM. I have been the lead creative director of the NM Juneteenth Jazz Arts Festival since 2021.
Every year I source local jazz artists, and masters of the craft from around the state and country to perform for our community. It is vital to me to celebrate the holiday by showcasing Black American music, and gathering community to experience the deep emotions connected to Jazz’s rich musical tradition.
